Central Pennsylvania-based RLS Construction Group was recently selected by the Department of Veterans Affairs for two projects located at the Wilkes Barre VA Medical Center. RLS will construct a new parking area and replace interior finishes in the main utility service corridor at the busy medical center.

“RLS is fortunate to have this opportunity,” said Robert Schopfer, President and CEO of RLS Construction Group. “These projects allow us to provide much needed upgrades to support the important work of the Wilkes Barre VA Medical Center staff.”

The parking area improvements will include constructing a 10,000-sf, blacktop parking area for contractors, featuring fencing and appropriate line striping. Additionally, a concrete motorcycle parking area will be constructed to accommodate 12 to 18 vehicles, with signage to indicate that the lot is restricted to motorcycles. The interior project will consist of replacement of the drop ceiling in the main utility service corridor of the hospital, to include moving, modifying, and reinstalling existing lights, exit signs, public address speakers, and CAT5 cabling.

“Working for the Department of Veterans Affairs is so important to us,” said Schopfer. “We take so much pride in our ability to support our military veterans through our efforts to improve the VA facilities.”
